Who we are

Community Development of the Poconos

Vision:
A thriving Poconos where everyone has a safe, affordable place to call home in strong, connected communities.

Mission:
We strengthen the Poconos by building and preserving affordable housing, collaborating with community organizations, and nurturing resilient communities where all people can flourish.

Purpose:
To serve as a focal point for housing issues in the Poconos; to drive discussion and to work collaboratively with public, private, and non-profit organizations to facilitate their existing work and undertake new opportunities to make housing more attainable for Poconos residents.

Our Journey

Creating More Front Doors

Founded in 2025 as a result of the successful 2024 More Front Doors conference held at Kalahari Resort by Pocono Mountains United Way and the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, Community Development of the Poconos was created to address the lack of a viable Community Housing Development Organization focused on the Poconos region. This new organization was designed to include leadership from across the government, private, and non-profit communities to bring together resources that both understand and can act upon the need and opportunities for housing in the Poconos, including Pike, Wayne, Carbon, and Monroe counties.
