Addressing the Housing Shortage in the Poconos

Did you know that two of the top three most housing cost-burdened counties in Pennsylvania are here in the Poconos? One of the primary reasons is that there simply is not enough housing – at all price ranges. But the problem is particularly acute for those looking for housing they can afford when in retirement or trying to raise a family.

Community Development of the Poconos was formed to address this shortage. As a 501c3 (pending) non-profit organization focused on housing, it serves as an advocate for housing development and safety issues, and works to bring in funding and appropriate developers to create housing – with a focus on solutions that working class and fixed income households can afford.
